The City put in the security gate at the entrance to Rock Creek Park in part to cut down on overnight activity, but also to cover the cost of maintaining the park. With several years’ data now available, the City Accountant has discovered that the cost of the tokens and access cards sold at Mosier Market is not enough to cover the park’s expenses.
As of 11/1/2025, the new prices for tokens and access cards will be:
Day access tokens: $6
Year access cards: $85
No one wants to raise prices. But the alternative, the steps the City would be forced to take if the park’s revenue doesn’t cover its expenses, is worse.
