Candidate Statement
My name is Gary Lindemyer and it has been my privilege to serve as your Position #5 Council member since being appointed to the vacancy in 2024. I’m hoping to serve a full term to continue the ongoing work the current City Council has been doing. I have lived in the Gorge most of my life, way back when Hood River had a bowling alley and movie theater downtown!
My wife Kim and I moved to Mosier in 2016 before I retired after a 30 + year career with the City of Hood River Public Works /Engineering Department. My career there began as a laborer, literally digging ditches installing water and sewer pipes. In the course of my employment, I was promoted to Public Works Foreman, Construction Inspector, and retired as Project Manager for several of the downtown improvement projects. While Construction Inspector, I worked closely with the Planning Department and was involved in every phase of both public and private improvement projects, from the initial land use review stage all the way through infrastructure plan review, construction, and finally, to homes being built.
My hope is that if elected, I can continue to use my experience to aid in our community’s growth and development in a way that keeps our motto of “Small enough to make a difference” at the forefront of our planning.
